Yew Tree Lakes is a 420 sqm dwelling set within 40 acres of the High Weald National Landscape on the site of a former trout fishery. The design takes inspiration from the area’s historical context, notably the disused ‘Cuckoo Line’ railway that borders the site. The building’s form intends to make subtle reference to this heritage and simultaneously sit comfortably within its rural setting. The building is composed of two intersecting volumes clad in local brick and timber, blending into the woodland setting and cantilevering over a former trout lake. It offers serene views across an incredibly picturesque location and integrates energy-efficient design.
