I am a chartered architect with over seven years of professional experience, primarily within the high-end residential sector.
For the past 6 years I have worked at Kent based studio Hawkes Architecture. The firm uniquely specialises in the design and delivery of projects under NPPF Paragraph 84e, a policy which allows for the construction of isolated dwellings in the countryside provided that the design is of exceptional quality, in that it: is truly outstanding, reflecting the highest standards in architecture, and would help to raise standards of design more generally in rural areas; and would significantly enhance its immediate setting, and be sensitive to the defining characteristics of the local area.
I possess experience across all the RIBA work stages (0-7), handling conceptual design and securing planning permission (0-3) and the technical design and delivery of projects through construction phases (4-7).
My passions lie in creating buildings that are sensitive to their context with high standards of sustainability. I am committed to using locally sourced or recycled materials whenever possible and have experience working to Passivhaus principles, ensuring projects are detailed with high levels of insulation and airtightness.
In addition to my technical expertise, I bring a strong focus on collaboration and communication throughout the design and construction process. I have worked closely with clients, consultants, and contractors. I am experienced in navigating complex planning environments, particularly in sensitive rural locations, prioritising design that respects both the natural landscape and the built heritage of the local area.
